Wednesday – Sunday, 3:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. with one hour unpaid break; occasional mornings and weekday support as needed.

The Event Audio-Visual Specialist will assist with the technical support of events, conferences, and other programs taking place during the year at the Carolina Union. This position would help support the maintenance, inventory, and delivery of lighting, audio, and projection equipment for 2 dedicated performance venues, 26 meeting rooms, and off-site programs utilizing Union lighting, audio, and projection gear. This position will work with the Audio Visual Manager and Assistant Audio Visual Manager to ensure successful audio visual support and assist in the supervision and training of 22 student tech staff. This position works within the larger team of Event Services and communicates on a regular basis at meetings, in EMS Software (Events Management System), and via email regarding event support needs and production updates.

Education and Experience

Minimum Training and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge and awareness of technical event production including audio mixing, light design, staging, and projection. Experience working in a customer service focused environment is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have experience working in a higher education setting, experience working with EMS (Events Management System) or similar software, and three (3) – five (5) years of professional event support experience.

Special Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be able to move 50 lbs. with or without accommodation, stand for long periods of time, and work in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.
