The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing advanced technical support for network attached servers, workstations and mobile devices in a campus environment. This position is responsible for server installation and configuration, backup and recovery, server hardware and software troubleshooting. Additional responsibilities include:
- installing, administering and supporting Microsoft Terminal Servers, Citrix, SANs and iSCSI
- Desktop and server patching, endpoint and server security, Active Directory, group policies, login scripts, firewalls, Active Directory security groups and permissions, endpoint software installation and desktop and server vulnerability scanning
- Network troubleshooting and developing network monitoring and management tools

This position works varying hours and shifts including holidays, weekends and provides 24/7 on-call support.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming, or closely related area; or

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area; or

Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming, or closely related area

Combination of post-high school education and experience

Qualifications and Experience

- Minimum of five years of experience supporting and administering Windows Servers
- Experience with desktop and server patching using automated tools like Microsoft Systems Center
- Experience with endpoint and server security, Active Directory, group policies, login scripts, firewalls, Active – Directory security groups and permissions
- Experience with desktop and server vulnerability scanning using Qualys software and other vulnerability management software
- Knowledge of network troubleshooting TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLAN’s, routing, trunking and Ethernet
- Experience installing, administering and supporting VMWare

Preferred:
- Experience with DFS, IIS, and SharePoint
- Experience installing, administering and supporting Microsoft Terminal Servers, Citrix with specific experience in vSphere, vCenter 5.5-6.0, ESXi 5.5-6.0 and vMotion
- Experience with Dell EqualLogic and EMC high availability SANs and iSCSI
- Knowledge of network monitoring and management tools
- Experience with Linux in a desktop and server environment
- Experience using open source programs and tools to solve technical problems and provide business solutions
- Experience in supporting and administering Windows Servers 2012 and above
- Experience supporting IT in a healthcare environment
