Lead Database Engineer Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201811195761 Full Time 8AM - 5PM Commensurate with Experience Position Information UCR Information Technology Solutions (ITS) is looking for a Lead Database Engineer to help on a major project to move our datacenter to a colocation facility as well as build a viable disaster recovery solution. The ideal candidate is someone who is a self starter, and has the drive to make meaningful technical change within our organization. The salary offer will be commensurate with experience within the budgeted range of $110,000 to $112,000. Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Experience Experience Requirement Experience hosting databases in the cloud. Preferred 6 - 10 years of related experience. Required
Special Conditions Special Condition Requirement Must pass a background check. Preferred Occasional travel for university related business meetings, conferences and/or professional development. Required
Minimum Requirements Knowledgeable about professional approaches and relevant standards and technology for management of unstructured data such as text and images.
Broad knowledge of the IT environment.
Has effective written/verbal communication skills.
Skills associated with implementing database enhancements that improve performance and reliability of the system at the software, hardware and operating system level.
Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks. Ability to work independently on complex technical projects as well as on a team of technical professionals and relevant decision-makers.
Demonstrates reasoning and ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Demonstrates interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, service orientation, active listening, effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills.
Skills necessary to develop procedures and standards relating to database management systems.
Knowledge of conceptual database design.
Knowledge relating to capacity planning and interface specifications.
Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making; problem identification and resolution; identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance through application configuration and programming techniques.
Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases.
Strong security skills for protecting the operating system, software, data and hardware. Technical skills to develop, implement and test disaster recovery functions using backup technologies.
Advanced knowledge of database management systems and standards.
Knowledge of test software code in client server environment.
Knowledge in Oracle & Microsoft SQL Server Databases.
Knowledge in Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
Knowledge in Oracle RMAN and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge in Oracle Weblogic Server.
