Job Description Summary:

The George Washington MD Office of Admissions is a high-volume, fast-paced and highly selective admissions environment where the team models attention to detail, accuracy, and exemplary customer service to prospective students, current students and faculty and staff. The Office handles interactions from prospective students, active applicants and accepted students in person, writing, and through electronic communication as well hosts events and tours. Every year, well over 10,000 completed applications are received and the Office reviews them holistically. Most years, greater than 1,000 applicants come to the school and receive in person interviews from faculty and students all under the coordination of the Office. The Office coordinates and executes numerous off-campus and on campus recruiting events and interactions for the MD program. Further, the office supports GW undergraduate students enrolled in special programs with the MD program such as Early Selection and the BA/MD program.

A Data Management Coordinator position is available in the Medical School Admissions Office.

This support position works with moderate to less complex data, in order to gain professional experience with data manipulation, in either database administration, analysis, or reporting. This role typically handles complex singular systems to help schools or divisions operate more effectively, and duties include data entry, ensuring data integrity, and liaising with vendors, under direct or general supervision.

Duties include:
-Compiles statistical reporting for internal and external constituents. Monitors and keeps internal databases up to date as well as perform calculations (arithmetic and basic statistics) for reporting purposes. Utilizes pre-existing reporting structures and create ad hoc reports using existing tools / databases when necessary.

-Under supervision, handles all financial operations (income and expenditures); first point of contact with vendors; uses university financial systems and databases; inventories, orders and maintains all office equipment and purchases.

-Coordinates both data input and direct communication of decisions and compilation of contracts and legal agreements with accepted students through matriculation. Corresponds with prospective and accepted students regarding required documents and policies via phone, e-mail and postal mail as necessary.

-Provides reception area coverage (walk-ins), phones, e-mail with regularity. Such duties may include addressing small groups and individuals visiting the School of Medicine.
-Under direction of management, supports logistical planning efforts and event-day needs for special visits / recruitment activities both at on-site and off-site venues.

-Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Working in customer service setting, preferably in higher education.

Previous experience with public communication (writing and speaking)

Proficiency in data entry and comfort with computers and statistical calculations
