The Department of Political Science and International Studies in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of International Relations. This position is located on the Statesboro campus.

The BA in Political Science prepares students for active citizenship by preparing them for professional careers in government, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations, business, studies in law, political science, and public policy. Graduates of the BA program in Political Science will become life-long learners as they become cognizant of the institutions and processes of governance and the policies and historical and current events that shape their lives.

Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor of International Relations position requires teaching, service, and research responsibilities as well as a terminal degree. The position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Earned PhD in Political Science, or a closely related field, by August 1, 2019
• Evidence of college/university teaching excellence
• Evidence of potential for a strong publication record
• Effective communication skills
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution

Preferred Qualifications:
• Teaching and research specialization in Gender Studies, Human Rights, and International Conflict
• Regional specialization in Latin America or Africa (not Europe, Asia, or Middle East)
• Demonstrated commitment to engagement with a diverse student body, and in particular with the Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies program
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate research and mentoring
• Ability to teach Introduction to Political Science and/or Political Methodology
• Ability to teach online courses
• Record of extramural funding commensurate with experience
