The Stanford Health Improvement Program is a program located within the Stanford University, the Department of Medicine, and the Stanford Prevention Research Center. The Health Improvement Program was established in 1983 and became one of the first university wellness programs, offering health promotion programs to faculty, staff, retires, and family members. As part of the Stanford Enterprise, the Health Improvement Program also provides the employee wellness program for Stanford University, Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children's Health.

The Health Improvement Program (HIP) offers programming to 28,000+ Stanford Enterprise employees and is seeking an associate wellness program manager to promote, implement and administer the operational processes and targeted communications of an employee wellness incentive program that meet business objectives and support cross-functional collaboration across the organization. This position will operate with minimal supervision.

Duties include:

  • Promote wellness programs to individuals through active, ongoing communications including, but not limited to, departmental talks, email distribution, mail distribution of class flyers, website development and participation in benefits and wellness fairs.
  • Implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day operations of wellness program(s); solve problems and make decisions that impact the direction of the program.
  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommend curriculum changes to achieve the goals of the wellness program.
  • Provide counseling to individuals on wellness activities and programs.
  • Develop health education content for flyers and brochures.
  • Represent the program to internal and external constituencies through lectures, presentations, department meetings and professional conferences.
  • May hire, orient and provide ongoing training and direct supervision to wellness program staff.
  • May oversee the coordination of group fitness and healthy living classes including planning and scheduling classes for the upcoming quarter, coordinating facility use and instructor resources, purchasing and maintaining equipment used in classes and quality assurance.
  • May draft and oversee budgets and monitor and approve expenditures.

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience or a combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Experience in health promotion and wellness incentive programs.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing operational efficiencies for wellness incentive programs, events and planning, developing budgets, and meeting budget goals.
  • Excellent project management skills, and the ability to manage complex timelines and multiple projects.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and customer service skills. Must be well organized and detailed oriented.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to cultivate partnerships.
  • Demonstrated high level of confidence in making strategic decisions, good judgment, and innovative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and video conferencing platforms.
  • Ability to interact and successfully collaborate with a broad spectrum of contributing groups and customers.
  • Relevant subject matter knowledge.
  • Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
