Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is in a national search for qualified candidates for Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and serving as a member of the Vice Chancellors Senior Leadership Team, the Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students enhances the University’s mission by engaging students in programs and services that help develop responsible contributing members of a global society. The Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students collaborates broadly across the University with faculty and university partners to impact student success, persistence and graduation, provides a critical support structure for enriching the overall student experience, and serves as primary point person for University response to student of concern and plays a critical role in case management response for incidents involving students.
The selected candidate will provide leadership and oversight to a variety of key student-facing units which include, Student Conduct, Health Services, Counseling Services, ACCESS (Accessible Campus Community and Equitable Student Support), Career Development, the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion, the Early Childhood Center, and the Prevention Education and Advocacy Center (PEACE).
The Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students also serves as the University ombuds person and works with students to reflect on and navigate significant developmental transitions and challenges including: academic distress, financial distress, transition/adjustment issues, student grievances, bias incident reporting, sexual misconduct reporting, and significant well-being and behavioral concerns. The selected candidate will provide referrals to students and families to the appropriate SIUE campus resources as well as provide direct support to faculty in response to disruptive classroom behavior. This role also serves as a member of the Behavioral Intervention Team and the Chair of the University Tuition and Appeals Committee.
The successful candidate will be an energetic, visionary and collaborative leader who is very visible across campus and who is committed to innovation and university-wide partnerships that enhance the delivery of services to all students. Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of Student Affairs and the University.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
-Master's degree and ten years of progressively responsible and relevant leadership experience.
-Prior supervisory experience.
-Demonstrated working knowledge of student conduct protocols and processes, behavioral intervention teams, threat assessment and case management for students in distress.
-Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, a dedicated student focus, a track record of educating and developing others in areas of responsibility and an understanding of diversity and inclusion.
-Strong appreciation for student life and academic initiatives, experience cultivating community, a working knowledge of state and federal policy issues, risk management, and experience responding to and managing student incidents and campus crises such as Title IX incidents including but not limited to sexual misconduct.
A terminal degree is preferred.
