Position Description - The Department of History at Lehigh University welcomes applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor with expertise in twentieth-century American history. Ph.D. required at time of application, along with documented evidence of teaching effectiveness and scholarly productivity. This position carries a 2/2 teaching load of graduate (M.A. and Ph.D. in History) and undergraduate courses. Thematic research fields are open with a preference for candidates whose scholarship complements the department’s current strengths. Advanced assistant professors are encouraged to apply.
Department faculty teach across the curriculum from introductory undergraduate lecture courses to graduate level seminars. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the Public History concentration of the History graduate program and the (M.A. granting) American Studies Program, the Documentary Storymaking minor, as well as other vital College of Arts and Sciences interdisciplinary programs such as Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Latin American and Latino Studies, Global Studies, and Africana Studies.
