Instructor/Assistant Professor of Anatomy & Physiology

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System with a Fredericksburg Area Campus in Spotsylvania, a Locust Grove Campus, and several off-campus centers. Job Description: Germanna Community College is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as an Instructor/Assistant Professor of Anatomy and Physiology. The successful candidate will teach all levels of anatomy and physiology. The successful candidate will teach both day and evening courses at any college location teaching a minimum of 27 credits per year (fall/spring) three courses each semester.

The College desires applicants with a commitment to the community college mission; teaching, learning, and student success; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and integration of global perspectives in instruction. Finalists will be invited to present a short sample lesson.

This is a full-time nine-month full time faculty position.

Salary is commensurate with rank and credentials plus State benefits.

Appointment date: August 16, 2019.

Position will be filled contingent upon available funding.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in biology or master’s degree in a related field
  • At least 18 graduate semester hours in anatomy and physiology from an accredited institution and college-level teaching experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with 18+ graduate semester hours in anatomy and physiology or doctorate in biology
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, use of instructional technology, certified for online instruction
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; with proficiency in the English language required
  • Community college teaching experience
  • Demonstrated student learning and student success in anatomy and physiology courses taught
  • Experience with the use of instructional technologies in the classroom preferred
  • Ability to teach day, evening, seated, hybrid, and virtual lab and lecture classes at on and off campus locations
  • Actively promote program and course development
  • Actively employ effective student success strategies
  • Integrate instructional technology in courses and in the curriculum as appropriate
  • Develop and teach courses using distance-learning media as appropriate
