Department of Advertising and Public Relations
The Department of Advertising and Public Relations in the Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University invites applications for the position of a full-time assistant professor of instruction (non-tenure-track) in advertising to join the Department of Advertising and Public Relations beginning Summer 2019.

The department seeks an outstanding advertising professional or academic scholar to become a fulltime faculty member in the advertising major. The successful candidate will be a strong writer capable of teaching persuasive and professional writing, who has expertise in areas such as advertising research and strategic thinking, advertising psychology, and moral and ethical issues facing the advertising industry. The successful candidate will be able to teach a combination of the following courses: Persuasive Writing, Advanced Writing for Academic and Professional Communication, Brand Strategy and Research, Media and Society, Advertising and Society, Psychology of Advertising, Legal and Moral Issues in Advertising, and Representation in the Media. Significant professional experience in advertising is strongly preferred. A master’s degree in a related discipline is required; Ph.D. is preferred.

This non-tenure-track position carries an expectation of excellent teaching. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the department and to Klein College through service, which will include developing curriculum, serving on committees, and advising student organizations.

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations includes two undergraduate majors—one in public relations and one in advertising—and minors in both areas. The department supports the Temple Ad Club (a division of AAF), the oldest PRSSA chapter in the region, a nationally affiliated student-run public relations firm—PRowl Public Relations—and the only student chapter of the Black Public Relations Society. The department’s student organizations garner numerous awards each year.

The Lew Klein College of Media and Communication is among the largest comprehensive colleges of communication in the nation.
