DescriptionJob Purpose: Plan and manage the administrative support for assigned research programs and projects within a school or research center. Includes supervision of program/project related financial accounting and reporting, coordination of proposal preparation and submissions, event management and general office support. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement administrative policies, procedures and guidelines applicable to assigned projects.
  • Organize and make assignments to administrative support staff; monitor performance and provide feedback.
  • Administer budgets associated with assigned programs/projects to include tracking expenses and preparing budget reports.
  • Organize and facilitate proposal preparation and submission to include coordination of data collection, routing and editing.
  • Make arrangement for program related symposia, workshops, meetings and other events.
  • Maintain liaison with Finance Office personnel regarding program budgets, expenses, inventory, etc.
  • Monitor and coordinate preparation of reports related to program/project progress.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Business Management or related field
  • Work Experience: Six to eight years job related experience.
  • Certifications: N/A
  • Skills: This position requires supervisory and organization skills and knowledge of general office administrative processes and practices as applied in a research laboratory or center environment. Working knowledge related to research project accounting, budgeting and reporting is required as are skills in records management and event planning. Use of office related computer applications is required.

Additional tasks of the SCMB include:

  • Organization and administration of SCMB educational outreach programs at Georgia Tech.
  • Support the SCMB Postdoctoral Training and Graduate Training Programs, with particular attention to professional development activities.
  • Assist with planning and executing the SCMB convening research activities at Georgia Tech.
  • Liaison and resource for the partner institutions with respect to their own educational outreach and convening research activities.
  • Facilitate intra-center collaborations by managing online working seminars.
  • Coordinate with the assessment consultant, and facilitate assessment administration.
  • Collate and summarize information collected through assessment and internal reporting; • assist in writing internal and external reports.
  • Work with staff to coordinate and oversee event management.
  • Work with the School’s finance team on SCMB related budget concerns, review monthly reports, and oversee Georgia Tech budgets’ for events as needed.
  • Maintain content on SCMB website, including regular newsfeed updates.
  • Work with staff to respond to inquiries via the SCMB email.
