Aurora University is an independent, comprehensive institution founded in 1893 offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Our two campuses are located in Aurora, Illinois and on the shores of Geneva Lake in Wisconsin. Additionally, we have an Educational Center in Woodstock, Illinois. We seek people passionately involved in the educational process who will help us realize our vision.
Position Purpose: Aurora University, a NCAA Division III institution, seeks applications for a graduate student assistant for with the men’s lacrosse program. Coaching responsibilities will be assigned by the head coach and include but may not be limited to: Coaching responsibilities will be assigned by the head coach and include but may not be limited to: coaching and instruction, practice and game preparation, recruiting, video breakdown, marketing, academic monitoring, and coordinating volunteer and community events, and other duties as assigned. The graduate assistant will receive a tuition waiver and a stipend of $5,000 per year. Successful candidate must pursue a graduate degree while serving as a graduate assistant. - Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
- Minimum of three years related experience with evidence of successful coaching, playing and/or recruiting experience in the lacrosse required.
- Experience coaching at the collegiate level preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Admission to the graduate program is required
- A valid driver's license and driving record which meets institutional requirements is required.
- Evening and weekend availability is required.
- Flexibility with an evolving work environment important
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to endure physically strenuous work-outs and physical exercise on a daily basis, including standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting; manual dexterity; lifting of up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to move about campus and between locations.

Athletics
AU has 24 NCAA Division III teams competing in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. About 700 student-athletes compete in sports. AU has a rich history and tradition of success across the spectrum of sport offerings. A Brief History of Aurora University
Founded in 1893 in Mendota, Illinois, as Mendota Seminary, the institution soon changed its name to Mendota College. By 1911, it had outgrown its facilities and the following year changed its name to Aurora College and moved to Aurora, where its students could take advantage of a thriving business environment and easy access to Chicago. In 1985, Aurora College changed its name to Aurora University to better reflect the magnitude of its academic offerings. Seven years later, Aurora University and George Williams College traditions blended when the two institutions entered into an affiliation agreement that paved the way for a merger eight years later. In 2010, the Woodstock Center opened to meet the needs of students in McHenry County and surrounding communities.
