Overview

The Department of Sociology at Princeton University seeks applicants for a full-time research lab coordinator to oversee the work of a team of full-time researchers as well as students working with the lab. Funding is available for up to two years and the position is expected to begin June 2019.

The Eviction Lab at Princeton University is an interdisciplinary research team who has built the first-ever national database of evictions in America. We have validated, mapped, and published our data through an interactive website (evictionlab.org). The Eviction Lab is currently working on a large number of studies on the prevalence, causes, and consequences of housing displacement.

This position is responsible for overseeing the day to day research activities and long-term project oversight for the team. The lab coordinator will work with Princeton’s Office of Research and Project Administration to handle contracts and non-disclosure agreements related to large scale data acquisition, analysis, and subcontracting. Coordinator will also oversee requests for partnerships with external researchers, as well as outreach made by the media and general public. Coordinator will work with current administrative team to cultivate content for Eviction Lab website and social media. This person will be responsible for supporting IRB and administrative matters related to studies conducted by Eviction Lab post-doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate researchers.

We seek self-driven, creative thinkers who have some administrative or supervisory experience. The successful candidate will have an introductory understanding of statistics, familiarity with large datasets or data infrastructure, and experience successfully working on a team. They will also possess excellent communication skills and a B.A. in the social sciences or equivalent experience. Experience working in university research labs, knowledge of issues of housing instability in America, and a M.S. in public policy, sociology, or related field are a plus but not required.

Salary is competitive and is benefits-eligible. Qualifications

  • B.A. in the Social Sciences or equivalent experience
  • Some administrative or supervisory experience
  • Introductory understanding of statistics
  • Familiarity with large datasets or data infrastructure
  • Familiarity with social science datasets
  • Experience successfully working on a team
  • Experience working in university research labs is a plus but not required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility, creativity, aility to problem solve independently
  • Knowledge of issues of housing instability in America is a plus but not required
  • M.S. in public policy, sociology, or related field is a plus but not required
