 Job Title: Data Quality Analyst I

General Description of the Job Class

Duke University Health System (DHTS) is seeking to hire a Data Quality Analyst to work in our Service Management Office. The Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise data while ensuring data quality and integrity as well as performing data quality analysis, testing, training, inspections, and retrospective evaluations. The Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for several dimensions of data quality and integrity across our ServiceNow platform including:

  • Completeness: are values missing?
  • Validity: does the data match the rules?
  • Uniqueness: is there duplicated data?
  • Consistency: is the data consistent across various data stores?
  • Timeliness: does the data represent reality from the required point in time?
  • Accuracy: the degree to which the data represents reality
  • Compliance: how does the data compare to expected values?
  • Correctness: are there any duplicates or stale records?
  • Duties and Responsibilities of a Level 1
  • Identifies, investigates and resolves customer data quality issues, communicating with business units and IT and performing root cause analysis as necessary.
  • Responsible for validating new and updated data as it feeds into the ServiceNow database from business applications using a variety of methods to ensure accuracy, including researching, cleansing and merging data.
  • Performs ongoing profiling and analysis of the ServiceNow data and serves as a subject matter expert for data quality.
  • Provides support and training for business areas that create and consume ServiceNow data.
  • Drives initiatives to improve enterprise data integrity and process efficiency
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of data standards, working closely with the business and ServiceNow development teams to ensure global adherence of these standards.
  • Collaborates with the ServiceNow developers to support the development and implementation of changes, issue resolution, enhancements, and data integration projects.
  • Tests evaluate and improve the efficacy of all data collection and data quality processes.
  • Designs and develops processes and policies related to customer data quality.
  • Identifies areas for data quality improvement and problem resolution through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.
  • Makes decisions in compliance with established corporate global standards.
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent technical experience required.

  • A good demonstration of effectiveness in working with multi-functional teams in a technical production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to customer requirements with timely and effective technical solutions
  • Proficiency in testing business applications that create or maintain customer data
  • Ability to assess business application efficiency and initiates discussions to improve/enhance systems
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize data from multiple sources
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Possess an analytical mindset and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask without sacrificing quality and accuracy
  • Proficient in creating, maintaining, and manipulating Excel spreadsheets
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in ServiceNow
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at every level in the organization
  • Experience with technical writing and/or process documentation, from the creation of new documentation to proofreading and editing
