Horizons Summer Program Assistants
H-I is a science/math program for girls in 7th or 8th grade at the time of application. H-II is a math/engineering program for 8th or 9th graders at the time of application. H-III is a college prep program for girls who have attended H-II in previous years and will be juniors or seniors in high school. Program Assistants are the “big sisters” that guide the participants through their entire stay on campus. They are responsible to promote a sense of community among the participants, foster an appreciation for social and cultural differences, promote an atmosphere conducive to personal growth and development, and ensure safety and well-being. Program Assistants walk their young charges to classes and meals, provide after hours activities and encourage participants to understand the excitement of math, science and engineering. Program Assistants assist instructors during classroom activities if needed.
Housing and meals are provided.
(this is a 3 week summer camp)Minimum Qualifications:
Experience, and Skills
High School Diploma/GED
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be female or identify as female.
High school graduates must have a minimum of two years of experience working with 12 to 18 year olds.
All selected candidates must pass the Sex Offender Registry check and not be on the list.
PA Staff will reside on campus and be available 24/7 as needed.Preferred Qualifications:

Working toward a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics or a similar disicipline.
Good stamina and high energy are important,along with the ablity to entertain participants during down time with ice breakers and to explore team and leadership opportunities, and utilize good judgement and critical-thinking skills to deal with unexpected situations.Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, bend and stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
