The College of Business has 76 full-time faculty and 40 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems & Operations Management, Management, and Marketing. Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.Department Specific Essential Job Functions
The College of Business at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Accounting. Position will begin in August, 2019.
Candidates will be expected to teach courses within the field of Accounting using a transformative approach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in Taxation, Auditing, Ethics, Information Systems, Principles, Financial and/or Governmental, and participate in department and school-related service activities. Candidates are expected to have a balanced commitment towards teaching, research, and service.Qualifications/Experience Required
Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
**NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.Qualifications/Experience Preferred
Doctorate in Accounting or ABD from AACSB college or school of business will be given priority. Scholarly Academics (SA) per AACSB standards are preferred. LLM in Taxation with significant Accounting publications may be considered.
Candidate should have sufficient education/training to accomplish refereed research in one of the commonly accepted accounting fields.
Professional Accounting certification required, CPA preferred.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Previous teaching experience in higher education environment at the level of teaching assistant or higher is required.Candidate must provide evidence of teaching effectiveness/excellence.Case utilization methods and user perspective principles experience preferred.Candidate must be appropriately SA qualified under AACSB guidelines.Physical Demands
