JobSummary:Now hiring a full-time PRA with benefits.  This position is offeredthrough the Division of Medical Oncology (Department of Medicine) within a headand neck cancer research laboratory located at the University of ColoradoAnschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.  This position reportsdirectly to Antonio Jimeno, MD, PhD, Professor, and is supervised by both thefaculty investigator PI (Dr. Jimeno) and Junior faculty lab managers at the ResearchAssistant Professor levels.  Pending qualifications, this is an open rankresearch technician position in the Jimeno laboratory.  There is apotential for oversight of other lab personnel including students and trainees.

Professional Field: Oncology/Molecular Biology,Immunology Research.

Natureof Work: We are seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented,enthusiastic individual to execute projects related to Oncology with oversightin pre-clinical therapeuticsdevelopment and Molecular Biology. There will be an emphasis in developing andcharacterizing cell-line and patient-based animal models for the study of humancancer, with a focus in humanized models for cancer immunology research, identificationof immune cells and microenvironment, and cancer stem cells. Processing andmanagement of patient tissue samples (PBMC’s, serum, normal tissues, tumortissues) from phase I/II clinical trials. 

Working Conditions / Hours: The position requires 100%effort working within the secured research laboratory and applicablefacilities.  Note; working in the eveningor working on weekends may be required and reviewed on a project-by-projectbasis within the research laboratory.  Theposition will require research laboratory bench work skills, moderate lifting ofresearch laboratory supplies, and good hand to eye coordination.

Primary duties may include the followingexamples of work performed:

Cell culture, biochemistry and molecularexpertise required. Specific duties include cell line maintenance, in vitroefficacy testing, proliferation testing, protein/mRNA/DNA extraction,processing and analysis; in vivo tumor generation, cell line implantation,animal treatment, giving support to animal xenograft models, animal husbandry,animal imaging, necropsy and tissue harvesting, and execution of molecularassays for tumor cell proliferation and metastasis. Experimental conduction asneeded. Data analysis and summarization (tables, drafts) as needed.

Valued experience includes advancedflow cytometry; cancer stem cell isolation and analysis; cord stem cellisolation and storage; gene-expression and genomic-based platform use andunderstanding; ordering, inventory and lab maintenance roles.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduationfrom an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in relevantbiological sciences field is required AND 2 years of molecular biologyexperience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduationfrom an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in relevantbiological sciences field is required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Theideal candidate will have prior research laboratory experience AND 2 (two) yearsof molecular biology experience (specificallygene modifications, sequencing, cloning experience welcome.)
  • Advancedproficiency with MS Office Software preferred. Computer use for University of Colorado business purpose.
  • Mustbe team-oriented, flexible, timely, able to communicate and motivatecollaborative partners; must possess ability to work independently and effectivelyto develop new techniques; be self-motivated; highly organized, withdemonstrated successful planning and management skills in behavioral researchand/or research projects.
