Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes at theUniversity of Colorado Denver is seeking a board certified full-timeEndocrinologist at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The candidate must have astrong track record of publications and grant funding in translational orclinical type 1 diabetes research. Prior mentoring or administrative experienceis highly desirable. This position requires enthusiasm and vision foroutstanding research and clinical care in type 1 diabetes.

Job Summary:


The Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes (BDC) is thelargest diabetes institute in the world specializing in type 1 diabetesresearch and care for children and adults. Over 200 clinicians, clinicalresearchers, basic biomedical scientists and supporting staff work at the BDCto find the most effective treatment, prevention, and cure for type 1 diabetes.The Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes care to over 7,000 children andadults with diabetes.

 The successful candidate will be an M.D. licensed topractice medicine in the United States and have American Board of InternalMedicine and Endocrinology & Metabolismcertification.  Applicants should have clinical experience in caringfor adults with diabetes and expertise in clinical research (NIH or industrysponsored studies). 

 This tenure-eligible position offers an exceptionalopportunity for a talented clinician with an interest in clinical research.

 Job Responsibilities: 

This is a position requiring an enthusiasm for medicalresearch and knowledge or interest in type 1 diabetes.  A combinationof previous clinical and research experience, diverse talents and excellentinterpersonal skills is required.  

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are notlimited to:

  • A commitment to an academic career in type 1 diabetesresearch, clinical care and service.
  • Creativity and independent vision to build new programs.
  • Providing clinical care for adults with diabetes.
  • Participation in ongoing research projects and competing fornew research grants.
  • Participation in student, resident, and fellow education,and mentoring of junior faculty.
  • Maintaining and contributing to the high standards of anexisting diabetes program. 



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • M.D.licensed to practice in the United States

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Stronginterpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively and congenially within adiverse research and clinical environment
  • Leadershipskills and vision for enhancing the clinical and research mission of the Center
  • Possess at least 6 years of demonstrated excellencein research, teaching, and clinical care in pediatric endocrinology with astrong record of scholarly activity and peer reviewed publications.
