Overview:CGL is a state of the art cytogenetic laboratory that serves CU affiliatedhospitals as well as health care providers/patients nationwide. The Departmentof Pathology seeks a full-time, junior to mid-level academic cytogeneticist tojoin our faculty as a member of the CU (University of Colorado) School ofMedicine. Applicants must be board certified in cytogenetics (MD or PhD) byAmerican Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and have at least 2 years ofexperience in cytogenetics, with administrative and leadership skills, and atrack record of educational and scholarly activities.

Candidateswith strong clinical and scientific backgrounds, experience in laboratoryleadership and management, extensive expertise in clinical molecular genetics,and strong communication and interpersonal skills will be favored. Thisposition may include opportunities for clinical and translational research, aswell as test development. Employmentexpectations:

Clinical andAdministrative/Leadership Service

Thisposition requires day-to-day clinical, educational and leadership/administrative duties including:

  • independent case review and interpretation
  • consultation with provider clients and patients
  • participation in quality assurance/quality management/quality improvement programs
  • ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements , including maintenance of certification by the College of American Pathologists
  • resource for employee and technologist training
  • Education and scholarlyactivities

  • Participation in training of resident and fellowship trainees.
  • Didactic instruction and oversight of undergraduate and graduate trainees in medicine and healthcare related fields
  • Research activities

  • Applied research and development projects directed towards unique or improved laboratory tests and services.
  • Engagement in translational or clinical research, with academic scholarly productivity commensurate with academic track and rank.
  • Academic Administrative Activities

  • Participation in departmental, school, and professional committees
  • Participation in CU Medicine interdisciplinary and disciplinary clinical conferences.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    Candidatesmust have an MD, DO, or PhD with certification in Clinical Cytogenetics by the AmericanBoard of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).  Two or more years’ experience in clinicalcytogenetics.

    Desired Qualifications: 

    ABMGGboard certification in clinical molecular genetics.
