Nature of Work:
The Department ofEmergency Medicine has an opening for a self motivated, efficient, PRA to serveas a project manager to conduct and coordinate research with Dr. Jason Hoppe. The job location will include the University of Colorado AnschutzMedical Campus as well as coordination with affiliated institutions in Colorado.

 The principalinvestigator conducts research related to prescription opioid safety andprescribing interventions for busy clinical settings like emergencydepartments. Current areas of work include: clinical interventions to improveopioid prescribing and the evaluation of legislation related to opioidprescribing; medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorders; andcollaboration with public health and other multi-disciplinary investigators.

 This will be acollaborative position with opportunity to shape research questions andmethods. New PhDor experienced MS or MPH graduates from research and behavioral healthdisciplines are encouraged to apply.

 Examples of Work Performed:

  • Monitoring and coordinating clinical and community-based research projects related to opioid safety (including both qualitative and quantitative studies)
  • Coordinating and supervising research assistants and students working on multiple projects
  • Serving as liaison between collaborators and the PI
  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings
  • Developing, revising and updating research documents, including protocols, data collection instruments, SOPs, IRB-submissions, and progress reports.
  • Developing and tracking study budgets (with coordination with appropriate Grants & Contracts managers)
  •  Assisting with research and analysis, including coordinating logistics, implementing protocols for data collection and conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Conducting literature searches/reviews
  • Assisting with preparation of manuscripts, presentations and posters for scientific meetings, with opportunities to present
  • Assisting with grant preparation and submission
  • Ensuring research projects fully comply with requirements of institutional ethical review and institutional or federal guidelines

 Supervision Received:
Under thedirection of the Vice Chair of Finance and Administration and guidance from thePrincipal Investigator (PI), the researchprogram manager will be assigned research duties and will report to the PI foreach specific task.

The position maybe responsible for supervising professional research assistants (PRAs) andstudents (undergraduate and graduate) working with the PI.  The supervision will require assignment oftasks and monitoring progress, timeliness and quality of task completion, alongwith reporting to the PI.

Salary and Benefits:

 

The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience.  This position is not eligible for overtime compensation. Information on University benefits programs, includingeligibility, is located at Employee Services.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities:

  • Independent judgement andself-directed work capabilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, PRAs, trainees andadministrators on a regular basis
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple and competing deadlines
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team environment

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer-basedtools (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Database management
  • Knowledge and experience with institutional review board applications
  • Scientific writingexperience, such as peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, or reports
Conditions of Employment:
  • Ability to work some holidays and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD or Master’s degree

  • Public health or behavioralhealth background
  • Clinical trial experience
  • Qualitative researchexperience
  • Experience with developingand maintaining standard operating procedure documents
  • Prior experience in a higher education setting
  • 1+ years’ experience withproject management
  • Ability to develop and trackstudy budgets
