Post-Doctoral Fellow

 

A full-time POSTDOCTORAL POSITION for aPhD, MD, or MD/PhD is available in the laboratory of Kristi Kuhn, MD, PhD,Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology at the University ofColorado School of Medicine. Dr. Kuhn’s laboratory studies how intestinalbacteria and their metabolites affect adaptive immune development in thesetting of systemic inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease,spondyloarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

 

The successful candidate will be amotivated individual seeking this position as a training opportunity to developtheir research career and become an independent scientist. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will be a keymember of the research team as a project leader.  

 

JobResponsibilities:The duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but not berestricted to:

  • Developing and conducting experiments related to the production of microbial metabolites, modeling human diseases in mice, and interrogation of both murine and human immune responses to microbiota and their metabolites

  • Maintainingdetailed records of experimental protocols and resulting data

  • Beingin compliance with all regulatory agencies

  • Readingand presenting relevant literature, presenting work at local and nationalvenues, and writing manuscripts and applicable grants

Qualifications

Requirededucation/experience/skills (minimum qualifications):

  • Historyof research publications
  • Atleast 4 years of wet laboratory experience

Desiredqualifications

  • Astrong background knowledge in immunology and/or microbiology
  • Skillssuch as mouse handling, microbiology, tissue processing, flow cytometry,histology/immunofluorescence, ELISA-based systems, and cell culture
