Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine as part of the University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus has an opening for a full-time (Open-Rank) Assistant or Associate Professor.

This is a full time (1.0FTE/1.0cFTE) Open Rank Faculty (Assistant or Associate Professor*) position in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC) in Aurora, Colorado. The Section of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine has 49 faculty members (to include Sr., Jr., PhD, Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Faculty) with on-going interests in asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, sleep medicine, the pediatric airway and medical education.

This position will support sleep clinical operations at 1.0cFTE. The position could also include clinical support work in other areas of expertise (e.g. pediatric pulmonology, neurology, sleep behavioral or other pertinent specialty, if applicable).

*Rank will be determined at the time of hire and will be based on experience

 

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Provide clinical support for sleep clinical operations
  • Attending inpatient, consult, outpatient and sleep service
  • Perform bronchoscopies and laryngoscopies
  • Read sleep studies and pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
  • Provide clinical support in relevant areas of expertise (e.g. pediatric pulmonology, neurology, sleep behavioral or other pertinent specialty, if applicable)
  • Teach and mentor house staff, fellows, residents and medical students
  • Attend relevant conferences and continuing education opportunities

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience and faculty rank. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • MD/DO or equivalent
  • Board Certified in Pediatrics, Neurology, or Family Medicine 
  • Board Certified or Board-Eligible in Sleep Medicine

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check and sex offender registry check
  • Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Pulmonology
  • Prescriptive Authority
  • Experience with either Sandman or XLTEC sleep software
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems such as Epic and other relevant medical technologies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Possess relevant skills within pediatric pulmonary (or pertinent specialty) diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Possess pediatric clinical assessment skills
  • Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
