NATURE OF WORK

The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH), Department ofBiostatistics and Informatics has an opening for a full-time post-doctoralfellow. 

The focus of this post-doctoral fellow will be the development andimplementation of novel computational methods for biomedical image computing,especially deep learning-based methods for large-scale image data analysis. Thework will involve both methodological research with biostatistics/informaticsfaculty and collaboration with biomedical investigators. The incumbent willreport directly to Dr. Fuyong Xing. 


The University of Colorado Anschutz MedicalCampus is a highly collaborative campus, and the particular collaborativedirection will depend on the interests of the applicant.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

The incumbent will report directly to Drs. FuyongXing and Debashis Ghosh.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

The incumbent may provide informal supervision tograduate students on the project, that report to Drs. Fuyong Xing and DebashisGhosh.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

1)   Research (70%)

·        Data management

·        Statistical methods development

·        Exploratory data analysis

·        Bioinformatics analysis

2)   Research results (30%)

·        Presentations at conferences

·        Manuscript preparation

  • Knowledge: Statistics, machine learning, bioinformatics
  • Skills: data management, data pre-processing, exploratory data analysis, biomedical image computing, high-throughput data analysis

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • PhD from an accredited college or university in computer science/engineering, statistics, or related field at the start of the postdoc.
    • Background in deep learning and medical image computing (or computer vision)
    • Minimum of 2 year(s) experience in Python, Matlab or equivalent
    • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
    • The ability to work independently on data analysis and research
    • Experience in development of algorithms usingdeep learning toolkits such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
    • Experience in natural language processing
    • Background in high-dimensional or large-scalebiological image data analysis (e.g., whole slide pathology images)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in development of algorithms usingdeep learning toolkits such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
