 Department of Psychiatry/Child andAdolescent Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) CaseCoordinator/Navigator position.

 This class series uses two levels in theProfessional Services Occupational Group and identifies positions which performtechnical support and/or office manager work for the majority of theassignment. Technical support work involves assisting an administrator or otherprofessional by applying knowledge of and/or interpreting basic principles,rules, regulations, policies, precedents, other guidelines, and objectivesspecific to a program or professional subject area to resolve problems, answerquestions and provide information, and/or advise others on technical programissues or matters. Positions in this series make decisions on behalf of anadministrator or other professional staff member and serve to commit theadministrator or professional to specific action. Due to the nature of thetechnical work contemplated in this series, if it is not performed by aposition in this series, it would revert to a position in a professional classin order to be accomplished.  Technicalsupport positions are involved in a variety of activities such as: assistingmanagement by applying precedents, interpreting and/or explaining programspecific policies, processes, and other guidelines; conducting studies toanalyze program issues and/or address management concerns related to programoperations; preparing reports of findings which include solutions; analyzing,evaluating, developing, and implementing work processes to achieve programefficiencies and deliver needed services effectively; organizing andestablishing work processes to provide support to management, ensure thedelivery of designated services, and implement rules, regulations, policies,and other guidelines as prescribed by management to achieve program objectives;meeting with and advising clientele to resolve conflicts with and/orinterpretations of rules, regulations, policies, and processes; researching,and reporting technical data on program activities, and preparing responses toprogram specific questions. Activities also include relieving an administratorof technical budget detail matters, such as: estimating/forecasting budgetneeds; preparing budget documents; overseeing compliance with budgetguidelines; recommending adjustments to remain within overall budgetlimitations; and interpreting budget materials, guidelines, and processes.  Other activities include: establishing andnegotiating contracts with suppliers; determining the content of technicalpublications describing program operations; serving as the primary liaisonbetween a work unit, staff, and program clientele by interpreting rules,regulations, policies, and other guidelines; and performing other comparabletasks which require applying knowledge of and/or interpreting basic principles,practices, rules, regulations, policies, and other guidelines specific to aprogram or professional subject area.

 This class describes the second level oftechnical support and/or office manager duties. Positions at this level are expected to exercise a higher degree ofdecision making and independence by functioning with less direction. Positionshave the authority to make decisions within the limits and objectives set by anadministrator and the technical guidelines of a program or professional subjectarea without prior approval. This class identifies positions responsible fororganizing and establishing work processes to deliver program servicesprescribed by management.

 The Case Coordinator/Navigator (CCN) will initiate theconsultation episode by collecting specific information around the patient, theservice being requested, and arrange for the telephone or electronicconsultation with the designated professional. For face-to-face or telehealthconsultations, the CCN will guide the process including ensuring all requestedpre-consult materials are complete such as past psychological testing, currentself-report measures, other pertinent historical information, etc and score anyself-report instruments. The CCN will then help to arrange the appointment for1x only consultation.  The CCN will enter the data obtain from eachdistinct point of contact with pediatric primary care providers into the securedata base management system.

 Salary and Benefits: The hiring range for this position has beenestablished at $50,724 - $61,172 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Fiveyears of experience in a medical administration or support field related to thework assigned to the position. 
Substitution:College course work with experience in child mental health or social work maysubstitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.  A certified medical assistant certificate maysubstitute for three years of the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’sdegree with experience in child mental health or social work or certified medicalassistant
  • 2years’ work experience in medical office
  • Experiencemanaging and handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experienceworking with students, staff, and faculty, within a higher education and/oracademic medical environment.
  • Experienceworking with EPIC or another electronic medical system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical office.
  • Ability to interpret medical rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while working independently with minimal supervision.
