Nature of Work:

A Professional Research Assistant (PRA) full-time position isavailable to work in the laboratory of Dr. Oliver Eickelberg in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences andCritical Care Medicine, University of Colorado School of Medicine. Using multimodal human andanimal investigations, Dr. Eickelberg’s laboratory investigates airwayepithelium changes occurring in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).


Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will bea productive member of the research team, participate in research projects, andhelp maintain the operation of the laboratory. The candidate will utilizemolecular, cellular, and in vivo approaches. The candidate should be able towork independently and as a member of a team. Flexible work hours, includinginfrequent evening or weekend, may be required. Candidate will work closelywith the principle investigator and other laboratory members in a cooperativeenvironment with growth potential. Excellent communication skills, the abilityto multitask, along with orientation toward teamwork and cooperation arerequired. The applicants should demonstrate that they are well organized,reliable, independent, and possess considerable attention to detail. Theyshould also have excellent verbal, written, and computational skills.

 Work will include, but not belimited to:

  • Provide general support to laboratory members and PI
  • Maintain laboratory compliance to safety regulations
  • Collect, accurately record, and analyze data in conjunction with other research staff
  • Isolate, maintain, and culture mouse and human cells
  • Utilize, care for, and maintain animals for research
  • Perform qPCR
  • Perform immunohistochemistry
  • Help with ordering reagents and materials
  • Maintain lab supply inventory
  • Maintain laboratory stocks and buffers
  • Maintain laboratory records, supplies, samples in an organized manner
  • Additional responsibilities related to position as assigned by PI
  • Supervision Received:Thisposition will report directly to the principal investigator and otherinvestigators, as needed, including graduate students, post-doctoral fellows,and potentially other professional research assistants.

     Supervision Exercised:Occasionally,supervision of more junior laboratory members may be required.


    Salary and Benefits:The hiring salary for thisposition is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtimecompensation.
