Post-Doctoral Fellow

The Division of Cardiology has an immediate opening for a full-time Post-Doctoral research fellow to investigate the basic mechanisms of skeletal muscle excitability in the group of Roger Bannister (Dept. of Medicine, University of Colorado Denver-AMC). Currently, the group utilizes heterologous systems and rodent models to study how altered CaV channel function contributes to muscle atrophy and the loss of motor units in aging and neuromuscular disease (e.g., amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy). We are presently implementing the zebrafish model system to compliment and extend our work with rodent models.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D in the Biological Sciences
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in the English language
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Experience with patch-clamp recording techniques
- Broad knowledge of ion channel biophysics
- Composition of publications in physiology journals
Preferred Experience:
- Patch-clamp techniques
- Ca2+ imaging and/or the zebrafish system is highly desired
