Peer I is a substance abuse treatmentprogram for adult men with chronic histories of substance abuse/dependence;many serving some form of a legal sentence with the state of Colorado. Theoperations department is responsible for the monitoring of clients within thefacility as well as while they are in the community for public safety issues.The position observes, monitor, and intervenes in and recording of clientactivity. The position audits a plethora of standards from the Division orCriminal Justice, Signal Behavior Health, and Office of Behavioral Health. Examples of Duties Performed:

- Conductrandom head counts to document client whereabouts
- Observeand monitor client behaviors and initiate prescribed interventions when needed
- Observe and document same sex urinalysis.
- Monitorbreathalyzer samples, document completion of the service, and report anyconcerning behavior
- Completesame sex pat searches
- Monitorand document client ingestion of antabuse, naltrexone and other medications asneeded
- Auditall client medications for count accuracy and compliance with medicationdirections
- Ordersmedication refills when needed
- Authorizeclient to leave the facility for work, pass, and job search activities
- Verify clients off-site where abouts
- Reportescape information to state agencies
- Maintainclient’s treatment records via filing and auditing
- Conductmonthly Fire Drills
- Conductmonthly facility inspections
- Attendmandatory Monthly staff meetings
- Attend training to fulfill annual DCJ requirements
- Maintainconfidentiality of clientele, personal health information
- Providecustomer service to clientele and outside agencies
- Dataentry utilizing Access and CareLogic systems.
- Propertyinventory of client property and screening for contraband
- Scanning,faxing and emailing information to outside agencies
- Dispensingof client personal monies
- Drive clients to meetings, recreationalactivities, appointments, etc.
- Miscellaneousduties that would be needed for any kind of project that supports the missionof the program
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Mustpossess a GED or High School Diploma.
- Oneyear of experience appropriate to the work assignment.
- Mustpossess and maintain a valid State of Colorado Driver’s License
- Mustagree to fingerprinting and criminal background check. Required backgroundchecks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the CentralRegistry of Child Protection (Trails).
- Inaccordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), ARTS cannot employ individuals (who mayhave contact with residents) who have (1) engaged in sexual abuse in a prison,jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or otherInstitution (as defined in 42 U.S. C. § 1997); (2) been convicted of engagingor attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated byforce, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did notconsent or was unable to consent or refuse; or (3) been civilly oradministratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in (1-3)of this section. Material omissions regarding such misconduct, or the provisionof materially false information, shall be grounds for termination.

- Experiencedocumenting behaviors according to established policies and procedures
- Experienceobserving, monitoring and documenting urinalysis/breathalyzer testing
- Experiencein observing, monitoring and documenting medication usage
- Experience in head counts/bed check
- Experiencefiling and auditing clinical charts
- Experiencewriting incident reports
- Experience and knowledge of Federal Confidentiality laws concerning Drug and Alcohol treatment and HIPAA
- Ability tocommunicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establishand maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levelsthroughout the institution.
- Outstandingcustomer service skills.
- Demonstratedcommitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Proficient inMicrosoft Office programs and ability to learn software programs
- Experience usingan Electronic Health Record
