The Political Science Department at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications from innovative and versatile candidates for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor, starting August 2019.

Applicants should have areas of expertise in the political-economy of the “Global South.Particular geographic areas of interest are:  South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin/South America.   Particular subfields of interest are:   International Development, Public Health, Gender, Labor and Migration. 

The successful candidate will be rostered as a tenure-track assistant professor. This position comes with responsibilities in teaching (40% of time), research (40% of time), and service (20% of time).  The teaching load is 2/2 (four courses an academic year), at both the undergraduate and graduate level.  This position will be responsible for teaching foundational courses in comparative politics as well as courses within the candidate’s particular subfield.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. from an accredited university; track record of engaging and innovative teaching; record of scholarly achievement or promise of future scholarly achievement; areas of expertise in one or more of the following fields:  Political-Economy of the “Global South” (Area expertise in Africa, Asia or Latin/South America),   International Development, Public Health, Gender, Labor and Migration. 


GENERAL QUALITIES DESIRED: 

The Political Science Department seeks candidates who expand our understanding of how colonialism, settler colonialism, neocolonialism, neoliberalism, globalization and/or militarism affect daily life across the world, and who can highlight the innovative solutions to global and local challenges that are emerging out of traditionally marginalized communities.   Candidates with a commitment to innovative pedagogies, including openness to online teaching and robust online pedagogies, are encouraged to apply.  The Department values candidates with a record of, or interest in, community engagement and/or international development experience.
