Required Qualifications (As evidenced by an attached resume):

A Bachelor’s Degree (Foreign equivalent or higher degree). Five years of full-time professional experience managing information technology services. Two years of full-time experience supervising both technical and non-technical staff. Experience hiring, directing, organizing, supervising, mentoring, developing and training employees. Experience administering work-load schedules and expediting work. Experience analyzing, developing, and/or evaluating complex computer systems and software packages to formulate and implement the most economical, efficient and effective ways to meet user requirements. Formulating budgets and monitoring expenditures, as well as managing funds.


Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Degree (Foreign equivalent or higher degree). Management experience in delivering information technology services in the higher education industry. Managing major software implementation projects. Understanding and experience with relational databases, web and client-server concepts. Understanding and experience with computer hardware and software installation, configuration and management. Understanding and experience with information security practices.


Primary Purpose: The Assistant Director of Campus Residences Information Systems for Campus Residences will report to the Director of Support Services. This position will provide information technology services to the Campus Residences community. This includes all IT services provided to the 50+ residences halls such has networking, telephony, cable, printing, digital signage, and computing labs. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the campus residences information systems team including programmers and desktop support. This person will be responsible for vetting all technologies and technical solutions installed in Campus Residences in order to meet both DoIT standards and the business strategic goals and mission.



Duties:

Oversee all aspects of Campus Residences IT, including infrastructure and applications. Work with Campus Residences directors and staff, along with other technical staff, to define, analyze and communicate technology needs. Evaluate requirements and formulate solutions. Oversee programming projects and implementation of third-party software to meet the needs of the division goals. Provide leadership in coordinating technology projects among departments within Student Affairs and other Student Services areas. Manage and oversee all stages of the development lifecycle for new projects. In performance of all job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, for protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes.


Provide leadership and direction in the acquisition and installation of hardware and software,including product and vendor assessment, negotiating with vendors, planning and providing appropriate training and support to users. Ensure that residential students and Campus Residences staff have the hardware and software technology, including network coverage, access to computers, printers, audiovisual equipment, cell phone coverage, Cable TV, and applications required to support their activities. Act as liaison and coordinate with other Information Technology departments as needed to provide the required infrastructure and services.


Ensure proper functioning of computer systems used by Campus Residences. Work with users to understand and troubleshoot problems. Recommend and implement solutions. Coordinate regular maintenance of system and patches, upgrades and testing as needed.


Provide leadership, supervision, oversight, mentoring, technical expertise and vision to assigned technical staff. Direct, organizing, and supervise the work of programmer analysts. Ensure that staff have the necessary training and resources to perform effectively. Establish performance programs and evaluate staff.


Formulate information technology budgets, monitor expenditures, and manage funds to facilitate efficiency and economy, including maintenance of multi-year technology budget projections. Help to prioritize short and long term objectives including establishing product roadmaps. Alert leadership of possible financial impacts of new and existing system as well their relative return on investment.


Communicate effectively with Campus Residences directors and staff and other stakeholders. Prepare and deliver reports and proposals to ensure effective communication of status, issues and opportunities with DoIT, Information Systems, Campus Residences, and appropriate student administrative leaders and staff. Attend and present at functional director meetings as needed to communicate changes and project status.


Maintain compliance with all software licensing agreements and adherence to University and Governmental regulations regarding system usage. Ensure that Campus Residences systems and computers comply with security standards established by the Division of Information Technology and adhere to other applicable regulations governing the confidentiality and protection of data (e.g. FERPA, PCI, et al)


Take steps to ensure effective record-keeping. Ensure that customizations, interfaces, and third party products supported are property documented. Keep accurate records of work requested and performed.


In collaboration with Campus Residences, Student Activities and Student Academic Departments and DoIT leadership, formulate, and periodically refresh information technology strategy for Campus Residences including investigating and advising Campus Residences about new technologies which may enhance services or create new efficiencies. Keeping appraised of new technologies as they become available in the marketplace and assessing how they might increase efficiency or improve services.


Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission. Participate in departmental and division-wide committees and working groups. Actively participate in the activities of the Division of Information Technology.


 

Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
