PURPOSE

The Life West Visual Content Producer/Storyteller (Storyteller in short) is a critical member of the Life West Marketing Team. The team gathers, organizes and tells Life West stories in order to share them with internal and external constituents. The “story” takes the form of videos, docuseries, photography, web copy, design, and social media.

The Storyteller is the filmmaker and photographer for the Creative Team. The storyteller actively seeks out stories,

collects information, video interviews, b-roll and other visual assets needed to produce story products. The Storyteller finds and develops stories to showcase and amplify the all the great initiatives, activities, people, events, and vision of Life West. The Storyteller keeps the Life West story and values as the central theme of all projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Make films and capture photographs for college creative team. Responsible to seek out and author new ideas and potential stories for internal and external campus constituents.
  • Be proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Media Encoder and Premier (or the equivalent in other programs), with moderate abilities with after affects, and have basic knowledge of rest of adobe creative cloud suite.
  • Knowledge and professional abilities in photography, lighting, video, and audio. Be able to use post production technology to shape content to produce high quality stories.
  • Prepare and post approved social media content as well as regular measurement and review of strategy and ongoing training for best practices.
  • Responsible to track KPI (key performance indicators) from social media projects and collaborate to improve KPIs with better strategies or stories.
  • Understand the chiropractic profession, the Life West vision and how to best position Life West stories in the larger contextual framework of the profession and target market.
  • Operate, maintain, diagnose and make minor repairs to equipment.
  • Attend Champions Weekends, The WAVE, graduation and other major school events to capture content (with appropriate notice)
  • Assist with digital media equipment selection, purchase and rental.
  • Coordinate regular maintenance of all digital media equipment.
  • Manage and maintain photo and video assets with a searchable keyword search system.
  • Manage and develop the YouTube and Instagram channel. Assist in all other social platforms using Hubspot to drive engagement and reach and show the Life West experience and mission through visual storytelling.
  • Prepare reports and outcomes for strategic planning.
  • Occasional international and local travel, weekend and evening work is required at on- and off-campus college events.
  • Partner with the Copy Editor/Multimedia Content Producer and other team members to storyboard, plan and produce compelling content.

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      Education, Training and/or Experience

    1. Bachelor degree in filmmaking, digital design, marketing, or related field or work experience equivalent.

    2. Minimum two years of experience in digital media, filmmaking, photography or related fields.

    3. Prefer two years of experience in professional social media.

      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

    1. Must have excellent knowledge and skill using platform of digital media software including social media platforms, Hubspot, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

    2. Must have ability to work independently in a complex environment with a high level of accuracy, reliability, and collaboration.

    3. Requires a balance of technical, organizational, and artistic skills.

    4. Ability to be flexible and learn the variety of tasks.

    5. Ability to work with and communicate with others at all levels.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    1. Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment.

    2. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.

    3. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., retrieving and placing materials on high shelves and on floor-level shelves; standing, walking, carrying, grasping, hearing, seeing, sitting, kneeling, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and reaching.

      WORKING CONDITIONS

    1. Work performed in a variety of environments including a general office environment.

    2. Periodic travel required.
