Job Purpose
Perform advanced project and analytical work to support a wide range of business requirements and business intelligence activities and to ensure the uniformity, accuracy, and consistency of enterprise data through the application of effective data management, security, stewardship, and governance processes.

Core Duties
  • Provide complex analysis and recommendations regarding data management and the design of business intelligence dashboard and reports.
  • Lead and own organization-wide complex business intelligence reporting and analysis initiatives; ensure initiatives directly support the organizational mission and are delivered on schedule.
  • Lead data stewardship efforts and develop the metadata supporting the applicable systems. Define and enforce interface design standards and best practices. Audit compliance and provide direction in non-compliance situations.
  • Coordinate the development and enrichment of an enterprise data model assuring reporting system development builds upon the existing data foundation and that data model conflicts are resolved.
  • Troubleshoot business intelligence and application problems and opportunities for improvement and coordinate with engineering teams to resolve application bottlenecks and performance issues.
  • Mentor and support the training of new and existing staff in business analysis, business intelligence design and development.
  • Coordinate the planning, development and presentation of training for end users of business intelligence reporting and analysis.
  • Other duties may also be assigned

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes and workflows.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to understand and apply the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to review business processes and translate into business intelligence reporting solutions.
  • Substantial experience in data analysis and root cause analysis and proven problem solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrable experience with enterprise application and database driven applications.
  • Substantial experience with relational and dimensional logical data modeling.
  • Ability to use analytical and business intelligence programs such as OBIEE, Business Objects, Informatica, Tableau, Matlab, SAS, R, SPSS etc.
  • Demonstrable experience with the design of User Interface and User Experience best practices.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills; ability to interact with senior management audiences; effective negotiation, facilitation and persuasion skills with diverse groups.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Substantial experience (expert level) designing and interpreting SQL queries and data extracts strongly desired.
  • Demonstrable experience analyzing large volumes of ambiguous data strongly desired.
  • Ability in developing data conversion mappings and scripts strongly desired.
  • Validated experience with accounting systems, particularly Oracle Financials strongly desired
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and testing practices strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies desired.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce (SFDC) desired.
  • Knowledge of JIRA and Confluence desired.
  • Knowledge and understanding of University Advancement business processes desired.

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

  • Occasionally stand/walk.
  • Rarely writing by hand; lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
