LOCATION:    Signal Peak Campus – Coolidge, Arizona       

JOB SUMMARY: Provide individuals and groups with academic advising, information on the transfer application process, and career advising particularly to the multi-cultural population, low-income, individuals with disabilities, first generation college students, and under-served populations. This position is dependent upon grant funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will:

  • Provide face-to-face academic advising, information on the transfer application process, and career advising to prospective, new, and returning students. Statewide visits to universities, cultural activities, and campus activities.
  • Provide academic, transfer assistance, and career advising to prospective, new and returning students via online and telephone. Knowledge of database applications; Analyze data, run queries, and extract data.
  • Assist in planning and implementing academic advising processes, procedures and activities. Participate and coordinate in the Summer Bridge activities for the Signal Peak Campus. Represent the college as the community liaison for the Summer Bridge program event/ activities. Schedule and coordinate campus visits for prospective students.
  • Assist in implementation of marketing and retention strategies. Assist in planning and implementation of TRIO Student Support Services’ events.
  • Assist the registrar by completing initial graduation checks after student submission of application for graduation. Final degree determination will rest with the registrar in accordance with Central Arizona College degree policies.
  • Work with the TRIO Coordinator to identify and advise At-Risk student populations and Probation students. Attend workshops/ conferences for professional growth as required.
  • Perform other duties commensurate with the function and level of the position to include participation on college committees, and the recruitment and retention of students.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:   Bachelor’s degree; desirably in Education, Counseling, Guidance, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

EXPERIENCE:   One (1) year applicable experience. Experience can include, but is not limited to, post-secondary student services experience in admissions, advising, career services, counseling, financial aid, recruitment, registration, residence life, student accounts, and TRIO Student Support Service Programs (TRIO).  Other examples of related experience include student guidance in a secondary school setting

SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS:  Driving and travel throughout Arizona is required using CAC district vehicles or own transportation, and is considered an essential function of the position. Possession of a valid Arizona Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends. 

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Knowledge of academic and career advising processes, records maintenance and student information systems
  • Knowledge of modern office technology, web site development software, and computer skills including Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Ability to demonstrate the proper use of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, instructors, college officials, the general public, and the college community.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks according to plans and deadlines in a high visibly and high volume environment.
  • Ability to work independently as a pivotal team member of student services
  • Knowledge of current best practices related to academic, transfer, and career advising.
  • Demonstrated experience with program planning, implementation and coordination
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, student services, faculty and staff; ability to prioritize, plan, organize and meet timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in mentoring students, working with mentors, or student leaders.
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.

SALARY:   Entry salary is $45,095.00

Copies of transcripts should reflect completed course work and conferred degrees. All academic course work and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country (this is generally stated in the degree evaluation).

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited course work by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation, will not be considered.

The Office of Talent Development is located in main administration building, H Building, Suite 131 on the Signal Peak Campus at 8470 North Overfield Road, Coolidge, Arizona 85128.  Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
