SALARY: $100,000-$108,000

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Associate Vice President, Student Support and Enrollment Services (AVP, SSES) provides leadership, coordination, supervision, analysis and coordination for the Registrar, Financial Aid, Veteran’s Services and Compliance departments and the student communications team. Convenes and organizes the Student Affairs Council in their student success efforts around college-wide advising, student success technologies and orientation. Serves as the college-wide Student Affairs liaison to the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) and the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE).

The AVPS, SSES develops and engages in equity minded practices that reflect FRCC’s demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equity in education.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Oversees student support and enrollment services teams (Registrar, Financial Aid, Compliance, Student Communications) to ensure staff are trained, prepared, and committed to serving the unique and diverse needs of students and to collaborate effectively with campus student affairs teams and instructional departments.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty and staff taking a team approach to problem solving. This applies both to the departments this position supervises and to the role this position plays as a college wide convener of student affairs deans and other student affairs leaders.
  • Serves as a key contributor to the college’s student success activities, both as an assigned leader or active participant on specific student success projects and as a leader of integrating student success work into the Registrar’s office, Financial Aid, Student Service Compliance, and student success technologies.
  • Serves as the FRCC advocate and chief liaison with CCCS and CDHE on student affairs issues and statewide initiatives. Regularly gathers input from college leadership on key decisions to ensure that communication with state level offices reflects overall college goals and needs. Ensures that Campus VPs and Deans are aware of and adopt required CCCS and CDHE policies and practices as appropriate.
  • Builds consensus among the Student Affairs Deans for direction on college-wide strategies for student success initiatives and to meet state and system requirements. Works collaboratively with members of the Student Affairs Council (SAC) and convenes the SAC meetings.
  • Through effective project management and team building, ensures that new student success technologies are properly implemented and evaluated. Delivers required project plans, tollgates, data, and outcomes to the executive leadership team as required. Lead efforts on planning, training, and communications strategies as they relate to student success technologies (i.e. Navigate, Degree Check, Recruit, etc.).
  • Supports campuses in developing innovative and inclusive recruitment strategies by leveraging technologies such as Ellucian Recruit.
  • Reviews and provides guidance to college leadership on enrollment trends based on college-wide data.
  • Develop strategies to guide, and train internal stakeholders on system policies, legislative changes, and college guidelines and practices as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all student affairs teams and Campus Vice Presidents are aware of federal compliance requirements (Clery, FERPA, Title IV and others) and that the teams this position leads meet all compliance requirements
  • Develops, reviews and monitors compliance with CCCS and System President’s Procedures pertaining to student affairs.
  • Uses various forms of data to develop team goals and objectives and improve operations.
  • Develops, oversees, and manages student support services budget in coordination with CAO.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university

PREFERRED EDUCATION

  • Master's degree with an emphasis in Higher Education from an accredited college or university

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • At least 7 years progressive responsibility in student services in higher education including experience at a community college with demonstrated commitment to the community college mission.
  • Knowledge of compliance and CDHE policies.
  • Demonstrated success in environments with distributed and negotiated leadership structures.
  • A record of success working collaboratively with faculty.
  • Knowledge of advising and student success strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with many types of individuals with diverse -backgrounds.
  • Record of successful planning, budget management and goal achievement. -Supervisory experience of large diverse teams.
  • Successful candidate must have experience in advising, placement, financial aid, and registration.
     

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of Guided Pathways as a model of student success and support
  • Previously worked at a multi campus institution.
  • Previous work within the Colorado Community College System.
