Position Description: The University of Chicago is currently seeking qualified applicants for a part-time position to teach in the Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics program. Current University faculty and staff, as well as professionals working in relevant positions outside of the University, are eligible to apply. The course will be offered at the downtown campus in Chicago.

Demand for more sophisticated health information systems in biomedical informatics is rapidly growing due to advances in technology, growth in the amount of available data, and policy initiatives. With a high premium on patient care and research to improve future outcomes, skills acquired in the Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics program will help students understand, build, and improve informatics solutions.

-Develop syllabus including weekly topics, learning objectives, readings, and plan for in-class content (lectures, exercises/activities, and/or lab).
-Develop and execute in-class content (lectures, exercises/activities, and/or lab).
-Hold office hours. Instructors are expected to spend at least 3-6 hours per week meeting with students.
-Develop graded assignments, must minimally include a mid-term and final assignment and course participation grade. For courses with weekly lab sessions, weekly assignments should be offered to allow students to master content.
-Grade assignments and return comments and grades to students via Canvas course site in a timely manner (within 1 week for weekly assignments and within 10 days of submission for larger assignments).
-Attend all in-person sessions.

A standard course includes 10 weeks of weekly in-person sessions (weekday evenings from 6pm-9pm or Saturdays from 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm). Total in-class time is approx. 30 instructional hours.

There may be potential to develop some online content to reduce in-person meeting time. If using online instruction, you must plan and create content in conjunction with the School's online instruction design team. Note, adequate time and planning is required for this option.
