Applied Exercise Physiology
Full-time, tenure eligible faculty position in the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences. This position is promotion-eligible with criteria related to teaching, scholarship, and service.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities involve teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in clinical exercise physiology, pathophysiology, and strength and conditioning within the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences. The desire and ability to work with students on Master’s thesis research is also expected. Other expectations include sustained scholarly activity, teaching and academic advising excellence, and service to the college and relevant professional communities. Familiarity and/or experience in teaching other content areas within the Department (e.g., anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology) is desirable.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate an ability to teach and deliver relevant experiences in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a culturally diverse student population, and that reflect a commitment to encouraging the success of our students.

Position/Job Qualifications

Doctorate is preferred (ABD with completion of degree by December, 2019 will be considered) in an Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Sciences or related field with emphasis in exercise science. ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist (or equivalent) and NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (or equivalent) are highly desirable. Evidence of college level teaching and scholarly activity is required. Applied exercise physiology practical experience desirable. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are also required.

The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences at Ithaca College consists of 18 full time faculty and is housed in the Center for Health Sciences with state of the art facilities including a wellness clinic and 7,000 sq. feet of lab space for teaching and research in neuromuscular control, exercise physiology, biomechanics, anatomy and physiology, and sport and exercise psychology. Undergraduate degrees are offered in Athletic Training, Sport Sciences, Medical Sciences, Clinical Exercise and Wellness, and Strength & Conditioning. A Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences is also offered, with concentration areas in Sport Psychology, Human Performance, and Exercise Physiology.
