The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Equipped with the most technologically advanced facilities located on a university campus, the college is dedicated to safeguarding public health by studying emerging infectious diseases that affect both animal and human health.

This position will provide technical assistance as a participant in the set-up of experiments, to participate in ongoing experiments and to participate in generating data from these experiments. These experiments require some animal work and in vitro culture of mammalian cells. The general fields of research are vaccine delivery and analysis of responses to human milk sugars. This is a temporary position expected to last eight-nine months.

ELISA and PCR experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Ability to culture mammalian macrophages and adipocytes. Ability to transform pre-adipoctyes into mature adipocytes. Ability to perform and analyze data from ELISA and ELISpots. Ability to perform RT-PCR and analyze data. Ability to effectively communicate with postdoctoral fellow and doctoral student.

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
