Job Description
This is a PRN position providing occupational therapy home care treatments as needed at various area locations.

WORK LOCATIONS
Patient care for this position may include various locations in Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Orange, Person, Vance and Wake counties.

JOB RELATIONS:   Responsible to: Supervisor, Clinical Services

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.    Provides occupational therapy for patients in accordance with licensing and regulatory standards,  physician’s order and established policies and procedures.
2.    Participates in weekly team meetings and case conferences, as necessary, to facilitate appropriate service are provided to the patient.
3.    Maintains up to date knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid/JCAHO thru inservices and workshop attendance.
4.    Participates in development and implementation of DHCH Performance Improvement activities.
5.    Coordinates care plan activities with the multidisciplinary team members.
6.    Designs treatment plans and recommends programs suited to individual potential and rehabilitative needs.
7.    Administers a variety of occupational therapy treatments and instruction to include splinting, manipulation retraining, hand skills, and activities of daily living, neuro-development treatment, and functional exercise.
8.    Observes and evaluates patients’ progress: re-designs treatment plans and makes additional recommendations for programs suited to individual potential and rehabilitative needs.
9.    Required documentation is timely, concise, factual and complies with statutory and regulatory requirements.
10.    Participates in collaborative practice teams and other hospital/community relations functions as needed to facilitate program development in specialty area.
11.    Follows standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required.
12.    Communicates regularly with team members, caregivers, and physicians.
13.    Identifies personal learning needs and implements corrective action: plans and conducts staff development programs to improve agency effectiveness.
14.    Implements agency policy, procedures and objectives.
15.    Works closely with agency billing staff to ensure accuracy of billing.
16.    Maintains confidentiality of employee and patient information.
17.    Exhibits an attitude which promotes harmony and goodwill in the workplace.
18.    Displays a clean, neat, professional appearance.
19.    Participates in Performance Improvement Program.
20.    Promotes quality, comprehensive services through a team approach.
21.    Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy required, with Master's degree preferred.

Experience
A minimum of two years experience in occupational therapy is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Certifications, and Abilities Required:

  • Current Occupational Therapy license in North Carolina;  
  • Valid NC Drivers License
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR);
  • Certification/Licensure as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations, including JCAHO and DFS standards, ICD-9 Coding.
  • Considerable knowledge of professional occupational therapy techniques,
