Associate Director Student Activities

Job description

The Associate Director of Student Activities and the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life works with the Director to enhance and improve student engagement at Miami University.  Through supervision of Student Activities, advisement of student organizations and programming, the Associate Director works with students, campus partners and faculty/staff to improve student organizations and programming at Miami University.  The Associate Director plays a central role in supporting the management of student organizations by overseeing the risk management and programming of all student organization events on campus.

Duties/Physical Demands:
Oversees staff responsible for the advisement of student organizations, starting of new student organizations and the development of current organizations
Oversees staff responsible for the advisement of Miami Activities and Programming the primary programming board on campus (2 full time, 1 graduate assistant and multiple student staff)
Supports and provides strategic direction for Late Night Miami, a campus effort to provide alcohol free programming Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings
Oversee risk management for student organizations through providing oversight to event registration process
Assist director in marketing and communication efforts for the department
Responsible for relationship building, resource development and support to campus constituents for large scale campus programming
Lead high impact programming weekend committee: Family Weekend, Orientation, Welcome Week, and Homecoming
Lead assessment efforts for student organizations and leadership within student organizations
Oversee campus leaders Presidents Coalition and assist students in developing more collaborative initiatives across campus    
Supervise, hire, and train graduate student, practicum students, summer interns, and student workers.
Supports the Fraternity and Sorority Life programming and advising area when needed
Assists the Director in providing leadership for the Office of Student Activities and Fraternity and Sorority Life in establishing and fulfilling its mission and strategic priorities; and in conducting daily operations and responsibilities
Supports and maintain office standards and policies
Other duties as assigned, provided they support the mission of the Office of Student Activities and Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel/ Student Affairs required
Three (3) to five (5) years professional experience working in Student Activities and or Fraternity and Sorority Life post grad school required
Supervisory experience of graduate students required and professional staff preferred.
