Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology - Neurobiology
Valparaiso University, located in northwestern Indiana, invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Neurobiology beginning mid-August 2019 and continuing through May 2020. Candidates who are dedicated to excellence in undergraduate teaching are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities for the academic year may include a neurobiology course for majors, team-taught introductory laboratories, and/or a senior-level seminar on a topic of expertise. The position will include teaching responsibilities for the equivalent of 3-4 courses, or 12 contact hours, each semester.
The Department of Biology is committed to excellent teaching at many levels: molecular, cellular, organismic, population, community, ecosystem, evolutionary. Currently, the department has approximately 160 undergraduate biology majors and also serves undergraduate students in the Colleges of Nursing and Health Professions and Engineering. The University is located one hour southeast of Chicago and is within a short drive of the Indiana Dunes National Park on Lake Michigan. The department is housed in both the new Center for the Sciences and the Neils Science Center.
