Position Summary

The Department of Supply Chain Management, Eli Broad College of Business, Michigan State University invites applications for a pool of qualified fixed-term instructors/assistant professors to teach one or more undergraduate and/or graduate courses in supply chain management (logistics/transportation, operations, purchasing/procurement), with possible additional support for students and/or research. These positions will be filled on an as-needed basis within two years of the position posting date.

There is a current need for a half-time ast inst/instructor/assistant professor to teach at least 9 credits of logistics and transportation management beginning academic year 2019-20.

Please note that a position could be part-time or full-time and may vary by semester, depending on the needs of the department. It is possible that no positions will be needed in some semesters. Renewal may be possible based on department teaching needs, funding and performance. Salary and terms are negotiable depending on experience and rank.

The position requires a Master’s degree from an accredited university.

Desired Qualifications

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree is preferred (and is required for the assistant professor rank). Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and/or significant work experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Logistics/transportation
  • Manufacturing or service operations
  • Procurement/sourcing
  • Supply chain management
  • Specific areas of expertise desired for the 2019-20 half-time logistics position include transportation, network design, and logistics strategy. Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is highly desirable.
