Primary Position Function/Summary:

Working closely with the Director and Associate Director of Honors, the Coordinator of Gies Honors will strive towards the advancement of the College’s Honor Programs strategic goals to continue the drive towards access, innovation, and excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work in conjunction with the Director and Associate Director of Honors to support the execution and improvement of innovative and distinctive programs that serve the students of Gies Honors; work closely with Gies Honors students in the execution of student-led initiatives.

Advise Gies Honors students in coordination with the Associate Director of Gies Honors.

Collaborate with the Director and Associate Director of Honors in the recruitment and selection of Gies Honors students.

Serve as a member on the scholarships review committee.

Foster a community within Gies Honors that is positive, inclusive, and consistent with the strategy for the program;

Implement Gies Honors leadership-based and academic course offerings in coordination with the Director of Gies Honors, the Associate Director of Gies Honors, and other faculty (as applicable).

Coordinate with the Associate Director and Marketing Communications to ensure effective communications related to Gies Honors.

Coordinate and facilitate, under the direction of the Associate Director, Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honorary Society and related events.

Serve as a chaperone on international study trips for honors students, as needed; Work with the Director and Associate Director of Gies Honors to advance ad-hoc initiatives and engage with office support staff to complete administrative requests.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred:

Master's degree

Experience Required:

2 years of experience related to student advising, student programming, or similar activities.

Preferred:

Prior supervision of staff or student employees. Previous involvement in setup and implementation of event programming. Experience at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or a similar higher education institution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Knowledge of career opportunities in Business fields and familiarity with business undergraduate majors.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Dynamic Personality. Commitment to excellent customer service and effective communication to internal and external audiences. Strong presentation and
interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

APPOINTMENT STATUS:
This is a full-time (100%) academic professional position appointed on a 12-month basis. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The proposed starting date is as soon as possible after the closing date.
