The Department of Student Health, General Medicine clinic is currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to deliver comprehensive professional nursing care to the students of the University of Virginia.
Licensed Practical Nurses are responsible for carrying out patient care in accordance with physicians' orders, under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse in charge. They administer prescribed medications and treatments, observe and record effects of medications, and observe and report patient reactions to treatments or any unusual conditions. Work is largely routine and done according to established protocols, with some supervision.

Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurse with recent experience in the provision of both well and sick care to patients in need of primary care services in an ambulatory care setting; i.e. Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Health Department or College Health. Must demonstrate a proficiency in the provision of office based patient assessments, testing, treatments, and wound care, assisting with minor procedures, medication administration, and patient teaching. Must be able to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team, plan and coordinate patient care activities for multiple care providers, adjust to changing clinic needs, and provide direction to CNA's when necessary. Proficiency with Window, MS Office.
Licensure: Virginia LPN license. Drug screen required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.
