The National College of Education at NLU seeks a dynamic, highly-qualified educator for a full-time clinical Early Childhood faculty member (10-month contract) at the Assistant Professor rank. The Department of Early Childhood Education has partnered with Teacher for America (TFA to deliver an Alternative Licensure program leading to the Professional Educator License, with the Early Childhood Endorsement. We are currently seeking a program coordinator with substantial PreK teaching and leadership experience to help oversee the Alternative Licensure program in ECE, supervise teachers in the field, teach engaging, graduate level coursework focused on building powerful learning environments, while interfacing with school principals and directors where teachers are placed. The ideal candidate has experience partnering with schools, families and communities to impact student learning. Candidates with experience in PreK teaching and understanding of PreK needs in education as well as teaching in the higher education space are highly desired.

Essential Functions:
•Teach and facilitate student learning in assigned graduate courses in online, blended, and face to face formats.
•Collaborate with faculty to continuously assess and improve our CAEP accredited Teacher Preparation programs.
•Engage in the learning-community life of National Louis University through engagement in meetings, committees, professional development, and collaborative projects with faculty and staff
•Fulfill other faculty duties in Research & Scholarship, Service, Professional Development & Engagement domains.

This position will be based out of one of the NLU Chicagoland (Chicago, Wheeling, Lisle or Skokie) campuses but will require flexibility to teach/visit all of our campuses depending on need.


•The successful candidate will coordinate the program by demonstrating excellence in teaching and have a strong foundation in promoting PreK teacher readiness to teach in diverse and inclusive early childhood settings.
•The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience and fluency teaching in online, blended and face to face settings using a learning management system.
•The successful candidate will be able to supervise, and mentor, teachers in the field on an ongoing basis over the two-year program.
•The successful candidate will be able to interface with Early Childhood principals and directors to make sure that the program is supporting the needs of the Alternative Licensure in ECE teachers.

Qualified applicants for the Teacher Preparation position must possess and advanced degree, preferably an earned doctorate in an Education discipline, or related field, as well as at least 3-5 years of PreK teaching. Preference is extended for possession of a professional educator’s license (PEL) and specialized endorsements, as well as significant leadership experiences in ECE settings. Experience working in Higher Education is preferred but not required.
