Assistant Director, Office of Career Strategy - Georgetown University Law Center

The Assistant Director of Career Strategy provides the highest quality services to students and alumni of the Law Center and the day-to-day running of the Office which provides career services to over 1800 law students and thousands of alumni. Reporting to the Director of Career Strategy, the Assistant Director has duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Maintains a specific area of focus, including diversity initiatives, business and corporate law initiatives, small and regional firm initiatives, judicial clerkships, OCS communications and marketing, transfer student initiatives, international JD student initiatives.
  • Has responsibility for specific knowledge and expertise regarding a practice area and region of the country.
  • Provides one-on-one career advising and coaching services to one of the 1L sections of the first year class and/or to upper-class students in their 2L and 3L years.
  • Designs resources, workshops and programming in his/her specialty as well as for their assigned students,
  • Using expertise and employing full engagement with their assigned students, enhances the effective operations and high quality of services using expertise and full engagement.
  • Connects with employers in their assigned region and attorneys in their assigned practice area, as well as with attorneys in their area of expertise, such as businesses and corporations.
  • Interacts with colleagues from other law schools through the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) and represents OCS when appropriate.

Qualifications
  • JD degree
  • At least two years of law student career advising experience
  • Experience in private sector
  • Knowledge of Symplicity
  • Coaching training preferred
