Job Summary Requisition Number: 29744 Job Title: STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICER II Working Title: Work Study Coordinator Salary: $23.04 - $45.54 hourly Job Type: Career Department Name: 5045-FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: Under the supervision of the Senior Administrative Analyst of Work-Study and Grant Operations within Financial Aid and Scholarships (FAS), the Student Affairs Officer is responsible for administration of program(s) such as, but not limited to, Work-Study, Cal Grant, Pell, and the Middle Class Scholarship. Main functions include reconciliation of Work-Study program activities (payroll expense reports, campus general ledgers and Financial Aid Management System); analyze and resolve data inconsistencies between institutional and federal or state systems, including but not limited to the daily processing of edit and reject reports; resolve data differences that show up on monthly reconciliation information provided by the Fiscal Management unit.

Respond in a timely manner to program-related inquiries from staff, students and parents. Verify that awards are packaged and processed according to federal eligibility requirements and FAS packaging policy. Remain current with regulatory changes and packaging policy. Assist with the preparation of the Education Department's campus-based aid Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP). Coordinate all of the above with various University and external entities (campus departments, Extramural Fund Management, General Accounting, Payroll Services, Office of the President, and the Department of Education). Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm function checkForSelectedStatus(){ return true;} Qualifications for Position 15 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred Demonstrated working knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices for awarding financial aid. 2-5 years' experience working directly with federal Title IV student aid regulations, including knowledge of Federal Work-Study, Cal Grant and Federal Pell Grant. Required Advanced knowledge of federal, State, and university database applications, including Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), CSAC WebGrants, CPS, NSLDS, financial aid management systems, student accounting systems, and ability to quickly learn new technologies Required Knowledge of and experience with financial aid advising and counseling techniques. Required Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated by effective, concise, courteous, accurate, grammatically correct, professional, diplomatic, and complete verbal and written interactions. Required Demonstrated problem identification, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, judgment and decision making ability. Required Ability to help develop new, efficient business processes to expedite the work-study programs, including but not limited to: job review and postings, self-service for employers and student workers, improved hiring processes, strong fiscal management of the program(s). Required Strong fiscal/reconciliation skills with strong attention to detail. Required Self-motivated individual with ability to think 'out of the box' and
works well in a collaborative, team environment. Required Comfortable with and ability to adapt to the rapidly changing financial aid environment.
