Job Description:

Description of Department: The Counseling Services Center (CSC) mission is to meet the holistic mental health needs of SUNY Oswego students through direct therapeutic supports, as well as programming, outreach and collaboration with other campus stakeholders. These supports are identified and made accessible through the CSC's commitment to social justice as a conceptual framework from which to deliver services.

The services of the CSC are offered free of charge to registered SUNY Oswego students. CSC clinical staff offer individual, couples and group counseling, as well as a host of psychoeducational workshops. The department has a strong value in developing future counselors through clinical internships as well as student leadership through the P2P program. Description of Responsibilities: The Mental Health Counselor will provide individual, group, and couples counseling, crisis intervention, case management, consultation with other constituencies including other student affairs and academic units. The Counselor will also coordinate and deliver educational workshops and provide training and supervision of graduate students, interns and practicum students.

In addition, the Mental Health Counselor will be expected to display a commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in a mental health related field required at time of application
• Licensed to practice counseling independently in New York State (LCAT, LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, Licensed Psychologist)
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a team of professionals
• Ability to maintain up to date and accurate documentation is essential and mandatory
• Experience providing group counseling
• Demonstrated experience using a brief therapy model
• Demonstrated experience providing services to members of marginalized populations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous position in college/university counseling center
• Experience providing treatment for eating disorders
• Experience providing outreach, training and education to students, faculty and staff
• Bilingual
