In Fall 2019, the university will break ground on a brand new School of Health and Human Services building.

Southern Connecticut State University seeks an Associate Dean for the School of Health and Human Services. The School is comprised of seven disciplines that all share a mission of caring and compassion within a professional framework: communication disorders; exercise science; marriage and family therapy; nursing, public health; recreation, tourism, and sport management; and social work. This position assists the Dean of the School of Health and Human Services with the administration, operation, promotion and evaluation of programs, personnel and budgetary matters of the School. a

The Associate Dean will work closely with the Dean of the School to: 1) compile and analyze data related to the operation of the School; 2) prepare reports, proposals, presentations, information and materials; 3) manage projects that support growth and innovation for the School; 4) plan and manage budgets; 5) respond in a timely and professional manner to the suggestions, inquiries and complaints of students, faculty and staff; 6) support students and faculty with administrative processes that require the approval of the Dean; and 7) represent the School at campus, community, and professional functions.

The Associate Dean will work closely with department chairs and program coordinators to: 1) prepare documentation for internal evaluation and external accreditation activities for state, national, and professional accreditation; 2) assure the effective, efficient and friendly operation of all units; 3) gather and disseminate information about student, faculty and staff accomplishments; and 4) facilitate interdepartmental communication and coordination.

The Associate Dean will work closely with School faculty and staff to support service activities in the community, secure external funding, and identify field placements and internships for our students.

Required: Earned doctorate in a related area to a discipline housed in the School; Minimum of 5-years of successful university level teaching and research experience, preferably in a tenure track position; Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collegial environment with students, faculty, staff, administration and the public; Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; Strong written and oral communication skills.  Preferred: Experience with professional accreditation policies, procedures and processes; project management; and budgeting.  These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
