Dean of Sciences, Humanities & Visual Communications
The Dean is responsible for strategic and fiscal planning, faculty & staff selection, development & evaluation, program development & review, and leadership in the School of Sciences, Humanities & Visual Communications.
Minimum education and experience includes Doctorate or terminal degree in subject area appropriate to School’s programs, OR a master’s degree in subject area appropriate to School’s programs and relevant work experience that qualifies individual to perform functions of the position; Three (3) years administrative experience in higher education or the equivalent; experience in developing and implementing innovative approaches to instruction; and substantive experience in curriculum development and faculty evaluation.
Minimum ability and skills includes ability to establish and maintain effective personal relations throughout the College and community; thorough understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive mission of the College; knowledge of the negotiating process and appreciation of the values of cooperative decision-making and shared governance; evidence of continuing professional development; ability to manage and lead effectively; leadership ability in curriculum development and curriculum revision; competence in written and oral communication skills; ability to work positively as a member of an academic leadership team; familiarity with microcomputer applications for management and instruction; progressive approach to education; commitment to and knowledge of vocational and technical education; sensitivity to the expectations and needs of students, faculty, staff and advisory committee members; find challenge stimulating; can motivate people; enthusiastic about work; and are seeking an opportunity to contribute talent to a dynamic organization.
