The University of Illinois College of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the country, with an accomplished and influential faculty, a smart and collegial student body, and a strong alumni network. In addition to its full-time faculty, the College of Law regularly makes use of distinguished lawyers as adjunct professors, particularly in its upper-division elective courses. The College of Law is currently accepting applications for adjunct faculty positions. Though it will consider applications from lawyers in all subject-matter areas, it expects to have particular needs in:

  • Intellectual Property, Trademarks, Patents and other upper level IP courses
  • Negotiation/Mediation Strategy
  • White-Collar Crime
  • Trial Advocacy
  • Appellate Advocacy/Moot Court
  • Externships

All of these courses will be taught at the Law Building in Champaign one or two days per week; some meet during the day and others in the evening. These are non-tenure track appointments between five and ten percent time. Each may cover the fall semester (8/16 to 12/31), the spring semester (1/1 to 5/15), or both semesters. Pay will be commensurate with workload and experience. These positions are not eligible for University benefits.

Applicants must possess a J.D. and have at least five years of practice experience in the subject area in which they will be teaching. Prior teaching experience is preferred.
