Undergraduate History Adjunct Faculty Instructor - Onsite Southern Ohio


Position Description

The instructor should be prepared to teach American history giving special attention to the major political, social, religious, economic and military topics in the post-Civil War era. Candidates must be committed to a Christ-centered, Christian faith-based
approach to education and be comfortable teaching within the Wesleyan theological perspective.

Adjunct faculty are professionals with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for Indiana Wesleyan University
students. Adjunct faculty report to a program director and perform instruction related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The adjunct faculty member will employ a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper class related records, promptly assess student coursework, and apprise students of progress. The adjunct faculty member will be articulate, current within his or her discipline, and demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning.


Qualifications:

Preferred: Ph.D. or other doctorate with a minimum of 18 graduate, semester hours in the discipline stated in the Title of Posting.

Required: A master’s degree with minimum of 18 graduate, semester hours in the discipline stated in the Title of Posting.


Required Skills:

•Experience in teaching undergraduate History courses at the college level is preferred

•Possess a strong Christian commitment with willingness to adhere to the IWU Community Lifestyle statement

•Proficiency in using Microsoft products

•Experience with adult learners is preferred

•Demonstrate knowledge of online educational delivery tools
